Pillars and Roses

This was one of my very first 2 tiered, fondant covered, pillar constructed cake. All the roses were made a week in advance so they could set well before being placed on the cake. This was my first practice of covering a round cake, well two round cakes with fondant. It costed me 12 oz of fondant because the first layer of fondant for the 6in cake was so thin, it started to stretch and tear. Now, I look back at this cake and smile... those were the days.
